Song Leaders

At Garfield, all children are musicians. Our music curriculum focuses on developing the skills, knowledge and understanding that children need to become confident performers, composers, and listeners. The children are introduced to music from all around the world and across generations, and they learn to respect and appreciate the music of all traditions and communities.

To help deliver our rich music curriculum to all our pupils, we have special Garfield Song Leaders.

The Garfield Song Leaders will:

  • have a love for music and promote our thriving culture of music across the school.
  • support the music leader with string instrument tuning.  Both Year 4 and 6 learn to play the ukulele and they need fine tuning before use.
  • support whole school singing assemblies and Musician of the Month by help setting up the computer/music/words for the member of staff leading the assembly.
  • be responsible for helping to keep the music room and instrument area tidy and may sometimes be required to transport instruments (including the new melodicas) around school.
  • be expected to show a thirst for knowledge in music and should ideally attend the Garfield Choir club or learn a tuned instrument/ Rocksteady.
  • have opportunities to support EYFS and KS1 during music lessons.

This year's song leaders are: Zoe, Dea, Olly, Marcie, Sophia, Ruby and Thadeka
