School closure update 2.10pm

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please accept our apologies as Parentmail is currently unavailable again and we understand parents are NOT receiving our messages. Below is a copy of the message that you should have received earlier:-

We will shortly be sending texts to parents who we believe are eligible for childcare next week. If you have not received a text by 1.30pm, and you believe you meet the Government’s criteria, please call the school immediately to discuss, t: 0208 540 1053.

This has been very difficult for us, but we regret we cannot accommodate all parents who have asked for a place. There are very strict rules which we must follow – you should have received a call from a member of our senior leadership team to let you know.

Unfortunately, from Monday we will NOT be operating a morning and afternoon nursery. We will also be unable to provide a breakfast club or after school club for children due to reduced staffing so the whole school will only be operating from 8.45-3.15pm.

Please do NOT send your child to school if you have not received a text because we will be unable to accept them. Please also ensure you strictly follow the 14-day self-isolation rule, so if you or your family have been self-isolating this week, they will be unable to start on Monday

We currently plan to be open during the Easter holidays, but we will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. As you can appreciate this is a rapidly moving situation and may change again next week so please ensure you read your emails and regularly check our school website: www.Garfield.merton.sch.uk for updates.

From Monday, children will be greeted by class teachers at the front gates of the school, NOT the school gate.

Once again, we send our very best wishes to you and your families and thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time.

My best wishes as always.
Michele Thomas
