Admissions

2025/26 Reception & Nursery Prospective Parents Open Mornings

We will be holding open mornings (and one evening) for parents with children starting Nursery and Reception in 2025.  These will usually include a short presentation from the headteacher and other key staff, as well as a tour of the school, and in particular our Early Years provision.   Our dates are as follows:

Garfield Primary School Nursery

Our nursery is led by qualified teachers and teaching assistants and follows the Government's 'Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.  We offer morning sessions (8:30am – 11:30am) and afternoon sessions (12:30-3:30pm) with a maximum of 39 children in each session.  Children are admitted to our Nursery the term after their third birthday. 

We also offer full-time places for eligible parents. We actually offer 35-hours a week so there is a small additional charge for this.  From September 2024, parents will be asked to pay £30 per week on top of their eligibility code to cover the additional 5 hours/week which are unfunded.  If you are not eligible for 30 hours we do offer the option of paying for a full time session (subject to availability) and the charge for this from September 2024 will be £125 per week. Please call the office for more information.  Please see the government website for more information around eligibility www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare.

Full time nursery children are welcome to have a school lunch which is currently £2.77/day.  Alternatively you can provide a nut-free, healthy packed lunch for your child.

Please note that admission to the nursery does not guarantee your child a place in the main school.  You will need to apply as normal, via eadmissions, for a reception place.

Reception Admissions
We are a two-form entry primary school admitting 60 children to Reception each year.

In Year Admissions to all Year Groups
You will need to complete an In-Year Transfer Form which can be obtained from Merton Council (www.merton.gov.uk/learning/schools/admissions) or from our school office.
